| Pets and Seijutsu Pets
All pets cost 2000 Ryo to obtain at D-rank or 1500 Ryo to obtain at E-rank, and all pets must be trained using the following wordcounts. At no time may a pet be a higher rank than its owner.
- Training:
E Rank – D Rank: 750 word training thread D Rank – C Rank: 1,250 word training thread C Rank – B Rank: 2,000 word training thread B Rank – A Rank: 3,000 word training thread A Rank – S Rank: 4,500 word training thread S Rank – SS Rank: 6,000 word training thread
Training costs no Ryo. All ninja are able to acquire pets, either for fighting purposes or just as companions to take along with you on missions; some have even been noted to be capable of speech. They can be a great help since they act as an ally in fights, independent from your character but still controlled by you.
Pets also have chakra supplies and jutsu of their own; you need to train these for your pet, but at half wordcount and zero Ryo cost. All pets are presumed to have tier-0 stats equal to their own rank unless stated otherwise (species-specific trade-offs, for example). Other biological weaponry, like claws, stingers, and teeth are treated as a weapon of 1 rank lower than the pet.
- Standard Combat Pets:
Standard combat pets, while useful, tend to pale in comparison to specialized Seijutsu pets. They cannot be SS-rank, and S-rank standard combat pets can only be won as an event prize. They can only know jutsu related to their biology, body structure, or natural species' abilities, and by default only know Ninjutsu and Taijutsu for this end. They can learn very few jutsu, but at equal rank to themselves. E Rank: 0 Chakra D Rank: 15 Chakra C Rank: 30 Chakra B Rank: 40 Chakra A Rank: 60 Chakra S Rank: 75 Chakra
E Rank: 0 Jutsu D Rank: 1 Jutsu C Rank: 1 Jutsu B Rank: 2 Jutsu A Rank: 3 Jutsu S Rank: 4 Jutsu
Practitioners of Seijutsu (生術 - "Creature Techniques") are able to work in perfect coordination with an animal companion. These are distinct from other shinobi combat pets, as they are more advanced as ninja animals; only Seijutsu Pets can cast Elemental or Collaboration techniques. There are two types of Seijutsu Pets.
- Support Pets:
Support Pets are extremely frail and incapable of entering meaningful physical combat; their Strength stat is considered nonexistent. If these pets are physically attacked with Taijutsu or Bukijutsu they take +2 full ranks in damage; in addition, they cannot be used as mounts. However, due to their aptitude towards chakra-based techniques, these pets start with, and grow to have, a higher amount of chakra than Combat Pets.
E Rank: 15 Chakra D Rank: 50 Chakra C Rank: 70 Chakra B Rank: 90 Chakra A Rank: 110 Chakra S Rank: 130 Chakra SS Rank: 150 Chakra
Support Pets may learn and utilize jutsu equal to or under their rank. The amount of jutsu increase with each higher rank that they attain. They can learn jutsu that correspond to their species, or Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Medical Ninjutsu (provided their owner knows the specialization).
E Rank: 1 Jutsu D Rank: 3 Jutsu C Rank: 5 Jutsu B Rank: 7 Jutsu A Rank: 9 Jutsu S Rank: 10 Jutsu SS Rank: 13 Jutsu
- Combat Pets:
These pets are extremely loyal and follow their counterparts into battle without hesitation, able to do physical combat with enemies and acting as if they were a weapon of 1 rank lower than themselves (to a minimum of D-rank). At A-rank and higher, they also can be ridden as a mount. However, due to their hardy nature they start with less chakra to compensate for their physical prowess. The chakra pools at each rank are as follows:
E Rank: 0 Chakra D Rank: 35 Chakra C Rank: 50 Chakra B Rank: 65 Chakra A Rank: 75 Chakra S Rank: 90 Chakra SS Rank: 100 Chakra
Because they are focused on dealing physical damage, Combat Pets are less proficient in jutsu. They can learn techniques of 1 rank lower than themselves, either related to their anatomy or of Ninjutsu, Bukijutsu, or Taijutsu (provided their owner knows the specialization).
E Rank: 0 Jutsu D Rank: 2 Jutsu C Rank: 3 Jutsu B Rank: 4 Jutsu A Rank: 5 Jutsu S Rank: 6 Jutsu SS Rank: 7 Jutsu
In addition, because of the close bond between Beast and Man, the Animal Counterpart gains 1 tier in one chosen stat so long as they are within a certain distance of their partner. This vanishes if the human and pet are more than 100 meters away, or are not able to detect each other. The affected stat is to be explicated when the ninja apps the pet, next to its Rank.
Combat Pets' Collaboration Techniques become one rank higher in damage when used with their human counterpart. Collaboration Jutsu need their cost paid by both the pet and the human, as well as need to have it explicated that they have this function.
Pet Death and You If should any reason your companion should meet an untimely demise, he or she can only be revived by any jutsu that could revive a human, and all jutsu shared between you and your pet cannot be used (however, they do not vanish from your jutsu list). However, you can always replace your pet. As with any pet, the new one begins at D Rank and must be trained to increase this rank.
Multiple Pets Any ninja with a primary or secondary specialization in Seijutsu can obtain more than one pet. (However, they may only have one Support Pet at any given time.)
However, if you have multiple pets, you split your attention between them; thus, they have their ranks capped. You cannot get another pet if your current one(s) are past the rank cap that would apply to them if you got another.
First pet: Can be obtained at D-rank. Max rank is SS if you have one, S if you have 2, A if you have 3. All pets get -30 chakra. Second pet: Can be obtained at B-rank. Max rank is A if it is your only other pet, B if you have 3. All pets get -40 chakra. Third pet: Can be obtained at S-rank. Capped at B-rank. All pets get -50 chakra.
